English Assessment time at Koala House
A number of years ago Koala House invested time and money into developing it’s own English program for each of the four class levels. After doing so, we wanted to make sure the children were acquiring the English we were teaching them. So along with developing the curriculum, we also developed a bi-annual report card.
To measure the children’s level of knowledge accurately, we have our teachers conduct interviews with each child at the Chrysalis and Kindergarten levels. In the interview the child is tested on general knowledge like self introductions, numbers, family, weather, etc. Apart from general knowledge, the teachers, also, review the topics covered during the course of the semester.
The information gleaned from individualized assessments is reflected in your child’s report card each semester. By conducting individualized assessment interviews, it helps you, the parent, to have an assessment of your son or daughter that is accurate and true to life. These assessments also help out teachers know about the effectiveness of their teaching. The insights gained from these interviews is often useful in helping our teachers hone their teaching skills and to make changes to improve the quality of their work.
