THE KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN 5- 6 YEARS OF AGE:

Kindergarten is a preparatory program designed primarily to support children’s social and emotional adjustment to group learning.  It marks an important transition to Grade One.

Most 5-year-old children have not yet made the major shift in cognition that has been found to occur between 5 and 7 years of age. The transformation that usually occurs around age 6 or 7 for most children has been marked across cultures as “achieving the age of reason” or “acquiring sense” – that is, an increased ability to assume personal responsibility, self-direction and logical thinking. To enrich this transition the Koala House kindergarten program uses teaching practices that help children explore and acquire the key concepts and tools of inquiry in ways that are accessible for their age and ability. The program supports children’s intellectual development while also enhancing their social, emotional, and physical development.  Curriculum content such as math, science and social studies is integrated through ongoing themes and other learning experiences.

The Kindergarten program is planned and led by qualified and experienced Vietnamese teachers trained in Early Childhood Education. Each group size is limited to 18 students with 2 teachers. Teacher to student ratio is 1 teacher to 9 students [1:9].
