Happy to be Back!
After three and a half years of being away from Koala House, I’ve been invited back to work with the school as an Educational Consultant. For those of you who may not be familiar with me, previously I worked eight years as Koala House’s Educational Director. I won’t begin my normal schedule until August, but I’ve started coming in to visit and spend some time becoming reacquainted with the head teachers, classroom teachers, and staff.
One of the surprises I received in visiting each location was the high percentage of familiar faces from the time I worked here before. I have even met a few teachers whom I knew had left and have since returned. For me, this is an important factor in creating and maintaining a high quality program, which results in many benefits for the children. My own children go to an international school that has a higher turnover rate for teachers than what I think is good. As a parent I worry about this. It’s so nice to know that during my long absence from the school, Koala House has maintained a stable teaching and work staff.
In any case, I’m happy to be back. In the upcoming months I will be involved in a variety of activities, which includes teacher training, maintaining and improving the English program, providing support and advice for the head teachers, and working with parents.
Friendly Fellows
With me being a new face to the children at school, I’m a bit shy about entering the classrooms for the first time. Being a stranger, I don’t know how the children will respond to my presence. Again and again when I’ve gone through the door to the classroom I’ve been greeted with smiling faces and friendly conversation. I wasn’t expecting the children to be so cordial with me being a stranger to them. I’ve also noticed how much they have wanted to talk with me using their English skills. Having good social skills which includes what to do when meeting a new person is important for life. I’m so glad to feel so welcomed by the children even when they don’t know who I am yet
Kind Regards,
Darren Czeczuga.
