TET IS IN THE AIR
Over the years that I have been in Vietnam I have grown to appreciate the Tet holiday more and more. For one thing it’s the one time of the year when everyone takes a break from their normal work and spends time with family and friends. I like that. I don’t often get to meet my wife’s extended family, so each year at Tet we’re able to visit with each other and enjoy good food and talk.
For those of you who have been with Koala House for some time, you might realize that this year we did something different. Normally, we put together a Tet performance, but this year we decided to create a Tet market instead.
Because of a busy schedule I wasn’t able to attend VB’s and BT’s Tet market, but I did get to participate in DQ’s Tet market. Everyone had a good time, children, teachers and staff alike. The school’s courtyard was transformed into a colorful Tet market. The day started off with poetry, some music, a game and then a lucky draw. Afterwards, everyone was free to wander around the market and choose whatever activities interested them. I was interested in the food and making my own handmade “lucky money” envelope. I also got two Chu from Ong Do to hang up in my home.
I had a good time and it seemed like everyone else had a good time too.
Tet is in the air. Happy…happy…happy!
Blessings to everyone in the New Year,
